The Ask

12 x 12 Mixed Media on Wood
This piece evolved into a commentary about Asking, specifically, women asking for what they want and need. The phrases “burst forth”, “stand up”, “look after you”, “see clearly”, and “layers of more importance” provide the narrative for this. With an image of a woman using a megaphone right in the centre—this really drives it home about “The Ask”.
Painting intuitively, and using the basic principles of design and value, I work in multiples, responding to what is there to see what the next step is, and using more discernment and intention as the piece develops.
I interpret my great love of nature in my abstract artwork, with attention to detail as the work progresses; painting more from a FEELING rather than from what I see in reality. This new way of art-making “is the most fun I’ve had in years!”
